New housing offers the option of installing an HDMI bulkhead to connect an Atmos Ninja monitor/recorder
SEACAM has unveiled their new housing for the Nikon ZR. Developed with RED—maker of professional cinema cameras that Nikon acquired in 2024—the compact full-frame “Z Cinema” camera boasts a partially-stacked 24.5-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 7 image processor. Offering 7.5 stops of in-body image stabilisation, the ZR is capable of shooting full-width 6K/60p in 12-bit RAW, 4K/60p with no crop, and 4K/120p using the DX portion of the sensor. The ZR boasts various features aimed at pro cinematographers, such as dual base ISO 800/6400, custom in-camera LUT support, and the ability to set shutter angle.
SEACAM’s ZR housing is milled from a saltwater-proof light metal alloy that is twice hardened and anodised, and the two housing shells are secured with the company’s titanium Safety Lock fastening system. Top quality materials are used throughout, including stainless steel and anodised aluminium buttons and dials. The housing features removable integrated handles and a window for viewing the camera’s LCD with a removable sunshade.
The housing ships with S6 or N5 bulkheads for reliable electrical strobe triggering, but you also have the option of fitting fibre-optic bulkheads. For filmmakers wanting to hook up an Atmos Ninja monitor/recorder (e.g., updated Ninja and Ninja Ultra) via the SEACAM Ninja monitor housing, there’s an available port for installing an HDMI bulkhead. For peace of mind, the company’s optical-acoustic leak detector comes as standard, with the vacuum valve and pump purchased separately.
Available for order now, the SEACAM housing for the Nikon ZR is priced at €3,950 (excluding shipping, taxes and custom duties).
