Diving Hotspots across the globe: Warm waters that are home to the Manta Ray
1. Kona, Big island, Hawaii : Go on a dive off Kona Coast, the main attraction is the night dive!
2. Revillagigedo Islands, Mexico: The boiler is the perfect location, with some ray’s wingspans over 5 metres!
3. Isla Mujeres and Isla Holbox, Mexico: The Caribbean manta found here could well be a third species of ray
4. Maldives: Anywhere around this island you’ll find crystal clear waters with the perfect visibility to see the rays
5. Koh Bon, Similan Thailand: Head to the West Ridge and Pinncale- the population is unknown but the rays are beautiful here
6. Yaeyama Islands, Japan: Scramble for a sight of a manta ray in the dive spot named the ‘Manta Scramble’
7. Yap, Palau, Kiribati and Guam: These islands each offer plenty of manta alfredi in their stunning reefs all year round
8. Komodo National Park, Indonesia: Black mantas are found at this site and they migrate from the north the the south of the park seasonally- so ask where to go based on what month it is!
9. Kadavu Island, Fiji: Small population but there all year round in a delicate and beautiful reef ecosystem
10. Great Barrier Reef, Eastern Australia: North Brommie, Coral Grotto, Plate Ledge, Pam’s Point; there are plenty of perfect spots to witness the gliding rays in these waters
11. Coral Bay, Western Australia: The population is estimated to be over 500 here
12. Nusa Peninda Island, Bali, Indonesia: Mola Mola and Manta point are dive sites you wouldn’t want to miss…
13. Tofo, Inhambane, Mozambique and Sodwana Bay, South Africa: From Bass city, Paradise Ledge, Ponto do Ouro, there are so many reef and oceanic mantas to see and in some idyllic waters…
14. Isla De Plata, Ecuador: Note that weather conditions make this harder to access at certain times during the year and this site is recommend for more experienced divers
