For some it may only be a pipe dream, to have their photograph, film, or artwork on display for thousands to see – a tired fantasy tied to an under-followed Instagram account, or dusty sketchbook. But with ADEX 2016’s Voice of the Ocean Photo/Video/Art competition aiming to find the best pieces from all over the world, it’s a chance to finally be recognised in the industry. Anyone can enter, from professional photographers to first-time painters – and for a low-priced entry, you’d be crazy not to give it a shot!

Here are seven reasons why we think that you should:

Only underwater photo competition in the world with live judging

Think your photograph has that special X-factor? Or your film’s got the ‘never before seen’ Attenborough buzz? Or maybe you feel your artwork would have made Van Gogh strawberry-red with jealousy? Voice of the Ocean 2016 is the only photo/video/art competition to have live judging. Right there and then, if shortlisted, you’ll be able to have your work critiqued by industry professionals.

Only underwater photo and video competition which also contains a category for art

Looking for the best visual representations of our ocean, the Voice of the Ocean competition offers awards in a variety of disciplines, from the Photo of the Year award, to the Video of the Year. It’s the only underwater photo and video competition to also hold a category for artwork, with many new additions including; Underwater Fashion Photo of the Year and Macro Photo of the Year (dedicated to seahorses).

Only photo, video and art competition dedicated to a specific endangered marine life

ADEX 2016 is dedicated to seahorses, the only competition of its kind to be dedicated to a specific marine species. From artwork presenting a unique perspective on the tiny creature, to intimate macro shots of them hiding in their habitats – certain category’s themes will force out your creativity.

Incredible prizes

With a bunch of incredible prizes to be won including; a COSMIQ Dive Computer by Deepblu, fantastic Discovery fleet liveaboard trips, a Nauticam Super Macro Converter, SEACAM Seaflash 150D plus many more exciting prizes.

Entering Voice of the Ocean 2016 means that you’ll have the chance to have your work viewed by the tens of thousands of visitors over the duration of the event. ADEX, one of the most visited dive shows in the world, is the ultimate platform to present your pictures.

The chance to be published

Every category winner is published in Scuba Diver Ocean Planet, the competition’s official magazine, and one of the world’s most well respected underwater photography print magazines. With a chance to feature in the pages alongside underwater photography greats, it’s an opportunity you surely can’t miss.
